I remember once at the Jersey City Assembly Hall, a brother had a heart attack and died; the Circuit Overseer was on the platform at the time, and berated whoever it was that was creating the ruckus that interfered with his talk!

Your most memorable Kingdom Hall meeting disruptions!
by easyreader1970 ini remember about twenty years ago some teenagers were caught fornicating in one of the additional schools.
the schools were downstairs, essentially separated from the rest of the kh.
they weren't just happened upon, though.

Frankly, I don't know why this surprises anyone; spying and tattling go hand-in-glove with any authoritarian regime

Also, "one verse shorter" seems to be a frequent occurrence on this list. I haven't seen any "one verse longer" notices there. Interesting.....

Talk about"Life On Hold"....... when does it begin to dawn on these circuit overseers that their lives are being trashed on an unrelenting treadmill leading to nowhere but an indigent old age? And what about their wives, who are doomed to spend their adult lives pretending to listen attentively to the same boring talks.... week after week?

How come people with the least means of supporting themselves ''Pioneer'' ?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy cousin told me last week that for the month of february she was ''pioneering''.
here is a person who was divorced 2 years ago and had to move in with her mom because she can't afford to live on her own .she only works 4 days a week.
she pays $600 every 2 months for health insurance because she is self-employed.

I suppose it's self-esteem reinforcement for folk on the society. Also, JWs and their "Armageddeon at any minute now" mentality confers virtue on fiscal irresponsibility.

Commentary on the Letter of James
by lepermessiah inzoiks inspired this thread when he mentioned this book elsewhere.. i have read other threads on this forum about it, but i always enjoy the fresh insight on here.. commentary on the letter of james was always my favorite book from wtbs, partly because i love the book of james, but also because it was one of the books that dealt with more practical christian living than constant wt doctrine.. i mentioned to a number of people that i loved that book, and got a few comments of "well, you know that book was written by an apostate.".
it didnt take me long to do a little math - that book came out i believe in 1979/1980, right around the time of the great purge.
how could someone write such an excellent book and then be branded an apostate just a few months later???.

That book, and "Choosing the Best Way of Life" were both written by Dunlap -- and both regarded as the best every published in their era

I beleive in Ray's COC book, he mentions that Albert Schroeder posited that "this generation" meant the "generation of the anointed" in several talks in Europe, and was chastized when he got back to Brooklyn. "Too fanciful" I believe was what he was told...... my, my what a difference 30 years can make!

... for the same reason Tom Sawyer convinced his pal Huck Finn that whitewashing the fence was a lot of fun.
